GERTRUDE KENNER

Gertrude Rachel Kenner, 94, of Duluth, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, in Diamond Willow, Cloquet.

She was born in Duluth July 25, 1916, to Samuel and Sarah Kaner. Gertrude was a 1933 graduate of Duluth Central High School.

She worked many years in the office of Lloyd Currie and Sons. Gertrude married Gerald Kenner in 1951, and they made their home in Lakeside. She lived there for over 50 years.

Gertrude was a member of Temple Israel Congregation.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, in 1990; and sisters Jeannette Kaner, Harriet Lussan and Katherine Myers.

Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Myra Kenner, of Duluth; son Herschel (Lydia) Kenner of Chula Vista, Calif.; brother Seth Kaner of Duluth; and six nieces.

Gertrude’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Diamond Willow Cloquet and to her aide Beverly Hughes for their loving care.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, in Temple Israel, 1602 E. Second St. Burial will be at Adas Israel Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank, 4503 Airpark Blvd., Duluth, MN 55811. Arrangements by Dougherty funeral Home, Duluth, (218) 727-3555.p>
